By Thomas Lampert, The Poet of Light™ ©2020

This poem was inspired by the fact that the global pandemic of the Coronavirus has created fear in the hearts and minds of people worldwide. Amid the darkness and cloud that overshadows us, we know we can go to a higher power for strength, comfort, and peace who is God. It is my prayer to bring light and hope to us during this dark time.

Say to those who have an anxious heart, “Be strong; Fear not!”
For the Holy Scriptures do proclaim that it is us he has sought.

“Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God
I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

“Fear not, for I am the one who helps you” throughout the land,
Even though the media shouts of the virus of its grip does expand.

Do not fear for God has come to test you, that the fear of him may be before you. Be strong and courageous, He will not leave you nor forsake you.

The LORD is on my side; I will not fear. What can man, or virus, do to me?
If I should falter or stumble You, O Lord are there, and my enemy will flee.

Be not wise in your own eyes, fear the Lord and turn away from evil.
In You we can find comfort and peace amid all of this upheaval.

The fear of the LORD leads to life and whoever has it rests satisfied
He will not be visited by harm and the name of the Lord will be glorified.

I will dwell in the shelter of the Most High and be under the shadow of his wings,
So that like the chirping birds of the morning air, my voice with others sings.

He will deliver me from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence
Of the fear and trembling and the questions of which only He can make sense.

From the ends of the earth I call to you when my heart is faint.
Lead me to the Rock that is higher than I to view the scene you intend to paint.
